About
Mission Statement
To facilitate the next generation of energy-intensive AI tech by offering a unified decarbonization platform & scaled carbon offset production.
Why EnergEyes began
EnergEyes provides visibility into the economics of energy, hence "Eyes."
Modern businesses contribute significantly to harmful CO2 emissions. However, these very businesses uplift society and drive progress. For example, AI companies have faced questions about their significant carbon emissions, especially at data centers. EnergEyes provides two solutions that work in conjunction to solve this issue in a financially beneficial manner: (1) calculating an enterprise's carbon footprint by the product, service, facility, operation, or in its entirety, and (2) purchasing carbon offsets, which is a way to subsidize the recapturing of CO2 out of the atmosphere, enabling an enterprise to claim that it is Net Zero in carbon emissions. EnergEyes began as a solution to appease environmentalists concerned about the environmental costs of AI computation, and founder Amir Syed knew that the risk of not pursuing the technology due to environmental concerns was greater than the risk posed to the environment. Furthermore, being Net Zero attracts climate-conscious consumers and investors, who spend more on Net Zero products and companies, enabling a significant return on the purchase of carbon offsets. The entire process is verifiable and zero-trust from all parties involved--including our auditors, your customers, and your purchase of offsets. Finally, EnergEyes is the cheapest solution on the market for this particular problem, matching market price and increasing supply.    EnergEyes doesn’t seek to drive climate investment through advocacy. Rather, it wants to make climate investment economically beneficial for every company’s income statement. How? Both companies and the climate win when the cost of achieving Net Zero is less than the profit from the sales generated by attracting new consumers.
Our History
2022
EnergEyes.org began as a reaction to AI critics concerned with the energy-intensive processes underlying modern AI computation. In 2022, as part of a science research project, Amir Syed, a senior at Unionville High School in Chester County, PA, USA, began working on ways to offset carbon emissions, including a software tool that calculates an organization’s carbon footprint using electricity grid and location data. The tool was designed to calculate his school district’s carbon footprint for a particular science competition, but he realized how powerful the tool was for enterprises too. After meeting like-minded peers at a summer program, Amir expanded the team. Amir, Wei, Kai, and João developed the codebase for Carbon Calculator and conducted research for carbon sequestration methodology. In an increasingly climate-conscious business landscape, the team agreed that they wanted to ensure that environmental concerns do not become the cause of technological stagnation. Technological accelerationism has the power to uplift society, so it is riskier to not pursue innovation than to halt it. However, enterprises engaged in energy-intensive operations needed to go beyond calculating their carbon footprint—they needed a way to achieve Net Zero for cheap. Already, corporations such as Apple have made particular products and facilities Net Zero, and the brand’s reputation has enjoyed the fruits of the investment already.
2023
Out of this necessity, the team thought up a concept for the most cost-effective carbon credits possible. EnergEyes’s algae growth chambers, which control light levels, CO2 concentration, temperature, nutrient availability, and even water quality, are scalable, which enables maximal CO2 consumption per dollar of investment. By optimizing for sequestered CO2 per dollar, EnergEyes is proud to offer the cheapest carbon offsets, Carbon Credits, to startups, major enterprises, and governments. To benefit from EnergEyes’s innovations, organizations need only to calculate their carbon footprint using Carbon Calculator, then invest in the corresponding quantity of EnergEyes Carbon Credits to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions. Such a purchase is an investment because achieving Net Zero attracts consumers and investment, and the cost of Net Zero is rapidly approaching the subsequent revenue and profit gains. To be financially beneficial, the Carbon Calculator provides actionable insights, such as a breakdown of an individual product’s carbon footprint, so enterprises can choose to make only one product, facility, or operation Net Zero before going all in. Additionally, EnergEyes’s server-like algae chambers can be continuously rented out, just like a data server, to purchase accurate, verifiable carbon credits.
2024
Research has been an integral part of the company, so the company expanded into the solar panel industry as a way to sequester carbon in 2024.
